Try the usual stuff. Re-boot, delete your PB folder and reinstall PB with PBSetup, see if that helps. You can also enable PB ingame with pb_cl_enable .

If you can't find your ET directory:
Go to your home folder, show hidden; it should be listed as ".etwolf"
btw, what distro version are you running? _________________

actually figured it out last night lol...forgot to post back...i was stupid and forgot to run it as root. i'm using ubuntu 64-bit, but i'm thinking of switching to 32-bit...from what i'm reading the sluggish response i'm getting with et right now is typically caused by running 32-bit applications through 64-bit...switching back to 32-bit might fix the problem...if anyone knows otherwise just let me know...would rather not have to limit 8gb of ram to around 4 :s

No what version? Jaunty? or the fresh Koala? Or previous releases?
What did you forget to run as root? PBSetup? ET when you installed it?
Easiest way to run anything as superuser I find, is to run:
gksudo nautilus in terminal and then double click the app lol.
OT: I honestly can't see the point in "64-bit" architectures atm. What civilian/non-technical/technically-challenged consumer needs a full 8Gb of memory? How many processors do you need to run apps? More importantly, how many things can a human being possibly do at once? _________________

actually 64-bit is quite useful...in fact they ran a test recently and found that it actually does a lot of things faster than 32-bit in linux. The only issues that seem to be coming up are things with the 32-bit games...such as with et, as i was finding out lol. i was using the latest release of ubuntu though, karmic kaola, which other than the et situation seemed pretty stable overall.

Figured. I'm gonna give Koala some time, maybe when the first set of updates come out for it and they get all the bugs. It's funny though, that Ubuntu has already announced the next LTS as if to say "Yes, Koala is perfect, now we'll focus on next year's release" _________________
